Transparent methodology
What the score measures—and what it does not
The six items describe observable practice behaviours. Each answer contributes zero to three points; the total becomes a score out of 100. Your lowest-scoring dimension selects the drill; ties use the drill that fits your score band. No model, microphone, hidden weighting, or proficiency prediction is involved.
| Practice dimension | What you inspect | First drill |
|---|---|---|
| Unscripted retrieval | Think about your target language, not your strongest language. | Three-second answer ladder |
| Keeping the turn | Use the response you make most often, not the response you wish you made. | Missing-word repair drill |
| Follow-up interaction | This measures interaction, not how many questions you have memorised. | Detail-to-follow-up drill |
| Message clarity | Judge whether the task succeeds, not whether your accent sounds native. | Key-detail handoff |
| Using feedback again | Choose what survives into a later speaking task. | Correction transfer test |
| Time pressure | Imagine a live conversation, interview, or timed task. | Stable-message pressure ladder |

Build the loop
Start and finish one observable message before increasing complexity.
34–66
Build transfer
Carry a working behaviour into a changed prompt or later session.
67–100
Add pressure
Use unfamiliar follow-ups, variation, and timing without losing the task.

Frequently asked questions
Is this a language proficiency test?
No. It is a self-reflection tool for choosing a speaking drill. It does not listen to your speech, assign a CEFR level, diagnose a learning need, or replace a qualified teacher or official exam.
How is the speaking practice score calculated?
Six answers are worth zero to three points each. The total is converted to a score out of 100, while your lowest-scoring practice dimension selects the first drill. Every question and scoring boundary is visible on this page.
What should I do with my result?
Run the recommended drill, keep its observable check, and repeat the tool after several comparable sessions. Treat a changed answer as a prompt to inspect your practice—not as proof that your proficiency changed.
Does the tool record my voice or answers?
No voice is requested or recorded. Your answers stay in the current page state. LinguaLive sends privacy-safe analytics for starting the tool, completing it, and choosing the practice CTA; it does not send your individual answers.
Can beginners use this speaking planner?
Yes. Select the answer that best describes what happens now. A low score is not a failure: it routes you toward a smaller speaking loop that is easier to observe and repeat.
